This course is suitable for network installers, fibre optic cabling installers and engineers, who are looking to prove their installation skills and professionalism. It is particularly applicable to individuals, for example, electricians and Telecomms engineers who wish to increase and broaden their range of skills.
The course is ideally suited for fibre optic cabling technicians, installers, data comms cabling installers and network cabling technicians who may have had some previous experience in installing data cabling, but are seeking to acquire new skills in fibre optic cabling, increasing their knowledge and opportunities. It may be that as part of an expanding role, individuals may benefit from possessing a nationally recognised qualification.
City and Guilds 3667-02:102/103 demonstrates, that delegates have been thoroughly assessed and can confidently install, terminate and test fibre optic cabling, that typically, will be installed in an internal and external environment.
This City & Guilds 3667-02:102/103 course is the recognised qualification for professional datacomms cabling, professional fibre optic cabling installers and structured cabling installers and is on the established UK’s regulated qualifications framework (RQF).
City & Guilds 3667-02 Fibre Optic Cabling training is a level 2 qualification. Basic knowledge of fibre networking would be beneficial, but not essential.
All candidates are assessed via 2 separate examinations, which comprise of 50 multiple-choice questions. City and Guilds 3667-02: 102/103 is a closed book examination and carried out using the computer-based City and Guilds Gola System. Candidates will also be assessed on simulated exercises including testing fibre optic cable, interpret test results and fibre optic cable ‘dressing into a closure.’ All candidates are given their results at the end of the examination.

To be eligible for an EUSR Datacomms Specialist card, applicants must hold an Award in Communications Cabling.
This award is gained by sitting the City & Guilds 3667-02 101 Basic Principles Course AND EITHER City & Guilds 3667-02 102/103 Fibre Optic Cabling Combined Internal & External course OR City & Guilds 3667-02 104 Copper Cabling in an Internal Environment Course.
