UNIT 203: Level 2 Principles of Copper Structured Cabling
DURATION: 3 days including examination and assessment

This intensive 3-day training course will provide delegates with the knowledge and installation skills that are needed to install, terminate and test copper cabling for datacomms structured cabling data networks. Unit 203 can be taken independently or in conjunction with the Unit 201 foundation unit for a full level 2 award in Communication Cabling.

This course covers the key tasks that have to be performed on datacomms cabling that is installed within the built environment, within the premises, in an internal environment; this includes commercial office environments, public buildings, hospitals, airports, and datacentres as well as other types of buildings where networks are deployed. The installation skills and underpinning knowledge gained on the course can be applied to all types of data cabling, as used for commercial environments, including large office datacabling systems, premises networks and industrial communications cabling networks. We also look at the latest trends.

The course focuses on key aspects of health and safety, the correct selection of tools, equipment and components as well as the correct working practises that are typically used for the installation of network cabling and structured cabling that support the transmission of data, voice and video. Candidates are assessed by a timed examination and a practical assessment.
